Custom Solutions for Missing or Damaged Teeth

Dental Crowns Worcester

Dental Crowns PatientIf you suffer from missing or damaged teeth, Dr. Christy Savas places dental crowns and bridges at his Worcester practice serving greater Worcester County. These tooth-shaped dental prosthetics are custom-crafted to fit your smile, providing a beautiful appearance and a balanced bite. Dental crowns and bridges can be anchored either by your natural teeth or by dental implants. They can be designed to provide function, improved appearance, or both. If decay, injury or other trauma has left your smile incomplete, contact our Worcester office today to learn how dental crowns and bridges can help you.

Placing Dental Crowns and Bridges

Thanks to CEREC technology, the process of receiving a porcelain dental crown or bridge at our office can be completed in a single visit. If you wish to restore a tooth that is broken or decayed, the procedure will begin with Dr. Savas removing the broken and decayed portions to transform the tooth into an anchor for a dental crown. Once the tooth has been prepared, he will take a digital impression that will include the adjacent teeth. The impression will be transmitted to a special milling machine that will quickly and accurately create your restorations from a single block of porcelain. In a matter of hours, you can leave our office with a smile that is comfortable, balanced and healthy-looking.

A dental bridge consists of a false tooth known as a pontic supported on either side by anchoring crowns. The prosthetic is so named because it "bridges" gaps. If you have a dental implant, or plan to have one placed, this can also act as an anchor for your dental bridge, rather than altering adjacent teeth.

Benefits of Crowns and Bridges

Choosing to restore your smile with crowns and bridges provides a wealth of benefits. In addition to helping you regain a smile that looks complete, healthy and beautiful, there are numerous health benefits. Bridges can help you avoid having a tooth pulled if there is enough healthy tooth structure to serve as an anchor. Meanwhile, your crown will help you to chew properly, and protect the remaining portions of your natural tooth. Bridges are important in preventing the unwanted shifting of teeth following the loss of a tooth. If left untreated, teeth can begin to crowd toward a gap in your smile. A bridge can help maintain proper spacing among your teeth, keeping your smile balanced, easy-to-clean, and beautiful.

Caring for Your Restoration

You can expect to enjoy many years of comfort and confident smiles by taking proper care of your restoration. By brushing twice a day and flossing daily, you can avoid bacterial growth at the base of your crown. It is also important to visit our office at least twice a year for professional cleanings and a preventative exam, as well.
